Some authors have had success simply emailing Amazon saying 'I did not authorize distribution on that site and it was done without my knowledge or permission. Well, now I see the piracy and plagiarism spreading and I'm hearing a lot more people dealing with suspended books and/or accounts.Īmazon's enforcement of Select is anti-author and does nothing to stop the plagiarism or piracy. Be sure to read the comments as they elaborate on the post, plus it's interesting to see all the people who told me I was wrong. Here's a blog post on Amazon's enforcement issues. Yeah, most of the time people will be fine, but when Amazon comes down on the 1%, they will destroy them and there's nothing preventing you from being that 1%. I would also register copyright on anything you put in Select and only use new work.

They are serious about exclusivity and even if it's not your fault you can lose your entire catalog to their madness. Honestly, I would not put previously published books in Select because Amazon's strategy on piracy has been to punish the author.
